STANDING ORDER FOR GOALDEN LOTTERY

FAN PROFILE

NAME- Seano

FIRST HOME GAME EVER SEEN-24 April 1993 v Frickley won 2-1 with Stevie Haw scoring two goals. We were presented with the NPL Championship trophy. My Dad let me run on the pitch to see us being presented with the trophy and I was hooked.

FIRST AWAY GAME EVER SEEN-The FA Trophy tie at Altrincham in Wembley season. We won 2-0 with Brian Ross and Phil Bolland with a bullet header getting the goals. There were a lot of Southport fans there that day in a crowd of 1196

BEST GAME EVER SEEN-There have been a few crackers, the FA Trophy semi-final against Slough when we won 1-0 springs to mind as does the away trip to Mansfield to see the giant killing act. However, it has to be last season’s FA Cup game against Notts County. The day had everything, a comeback, a sending off, great goals, TV coverage, it was a day I’m sure no fan will ever forget.

WORST GAME EVER SEEN-Whilst there have been a few crackers in the best game seen question there have sadly been some shockers as well but Southport v Gresley Rovers in the FA Trophy in 2001/02 season springs to mind as being particularly bad.

BEST OCCASION-I know it’s boring but like most of the others who have completed these profiles it has to be going to Wembley. Even at my young age that will probably be the best occasion of my life. I still wish I was old enough and loved the club as much as I do now though to have appreciated it as much as most people did. (It’s funny even as I type this out I still get goosepimples just thinking about it-Rob)

WORST OCCASION-Being relegated at the end of last season but I don’t want to go into detail about that because it’s in the past and it’s time to look forward to much better times and a “re-birth” of Southport Football Club.

FAVOURITE EVER PLAYER-Steve Soley, after he turned down a move back into the Football League and a return to his mates at a club he was loved at by the fans. He played some great football for us and got unfair abuse from a lot of fans for being injured which is something he could do nothing about. Anyhow, he was a true man about it and left us on good terms.

FUNNIEST MOMENT WATCHING SFC-The handbags “fight” at half time between Phil Wilson and Mark Wright was quite a laugh.

BEST GOAL SEEN SCORED BY SOUTHPORT PLAYER- Peter Thomson vs Dagenham in the FA Trophy last season. A 90th minute bolter that took the match into extra time and penalties which we ended up winning.

BEST GROUND VISITED WATCHING SFC- Wembley. I doubt any team in Non League football could beat that. I also quite liked Chester’s ground but the team that play there are not in my top 100 favourites!

I have had lots of laughs on my travels with my mates watching Southport and hope to continue this in the coming years.

Seano’s enthusiasm and love of the club really comes through in this profile and if only we could attract more of the town’s young people to Haig Ave I am sure the club would prosper.
