ARCHIVE NEWS: SEPTEMBER 04 to DECEMBER 05 JANUARY 06 to APRIL 06 MAY 06 to AUG 06 SEPT 06 to DEC 06 JAN 07 FEB 07 MAR 07 APR 07 29 Apr Blue Square North 07/08 will comprise of the following teams based on the assumption that Witton will be promoted from the Unibond, it could be Telford, Marine or Matlock. Also assuming Kettering will move up, this could also be Farsley, Hinckley or Workington:-
Weymouth look set to go into Administration tomorrow and start next season with a 10 point deduction, what a ridiculous situation this is becoming and something that needs investigating immediately. Our combined home and away average attendance is 1592, our best ever in NL football, helped of course by the gates at Oxford and York. The home average of 1200 is 44 down on last season. 28 Apr Away Exeter City. EXETER 2 SOUTHPORT 1 ATT 6670 Our highest ever NL league gate and the 23rd best ever in the history of The Conference.. A super first half showing was followed by a backs to the wall second as Exeter launched wave after wave of attacks. You could tell how tense the Exeter players and fans were in the first half but they certainly came out all guns blazing for the second period. An excellent turn out of 109 Southport fans made their voices head in the first half in particular. It was a brilliant atmosphere in the second once Exeter scored, certainly the loudest I have heard at a Southport game for a long time. Excellent journey down and back by car. The coach was also full which considering the position we were in is a great show of support from the Southport faithful. It's times like this that the club need our support and to all those who have stuck with it, well done. I know there is at least one person who has seen all the first class games and another who has missed just one, there may be others. I've just missed the two games, at Dagenham when no lift was available, and at Gravesend when illness struck. I will be doing my season summary in the next few days. The Exeter fans are full of praise for our following yesterday and we seem to have gained an appreciation society. When you think about it, we had 109 there out of an average home gate of 1200. Exeter had 180 at Haig Ave out of an average gate of 3627.9.08% of our average home gate in a meaningless gam against 4.96 % of their average home gate, not bad going that! Burscough gain promotion and Leigh survive, at least the travel next season will be a lot less. I'm sure the fans that those two teams will bring to Haig Ave will help our average attendance next season!!! It will be interesting to see which end some of our "fans" go in when we meet Burscough. 27 Apr Tickets look to be selling well in Exeter. The official site states only a handful remain and the forum users estimates range from 3800 to 7000. I have advised them that we will probably have around the 100 mark in attendance. 26 Apr TIY 1ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION & GRAND AUCTION at The Grandstand Club. Over £1400 raised. Many thanks to everyone for their support. 25 Apr I think someone needs to get a message to Exeter, they seem to think we are bringing 2-300 on Saturday. The coach is full but only the one. There will be a few of us in cars and a few exiles but with the match situation as it is now, no more than 120 I guess. They reckon on having sold over 6000 tickets already. 24 Apr Our fate could finally be decided tonight when Halifax take on Crawley and Grays play Kidderminster. Our fate is indeed sealed as both Halifax and Grays win to send us down. I know it's been on the cards for a long time but the 4 game winning run gave us a bit of hope but all to no avail and its Blue Square North next season. ONLY 1 coach will now run to Exeter so if you haven't booked and paid I'm afraid you will be unable to travel with TIY. Apologies to anyone who has booked but we can only allow the first 49 who paid to go.
