NEWS ARCHIVE JUNE 07

30 June Southport Carnival. TIY are running a shoot in target football game see here with the person who scores the most "goals" on the day winning a Southport FC Season Ticket and prizes for anyone who scores a hit. TIY and Club souvenirs will also be on sale. Memberships can also be taken out or renewed. A great day is planned with Trust In Yellow working to promote the Club and The Trust at a major event in the town.

Well it would have been a great day if it hadn't been for the weather! What a disappointment. Those that had a go at the shoot out including Carl Baker and his son all seemed to enjoy it but the attendance was dreadful because of the rain. Everything got wet and having been on site from 8.45 until 2.15 when we abandoned ship, thankfully the carnival organisers relented and let people pack up early, we were soaked through to the skin.

28 Jun Oh Dear, it looks like we are going to get very wet at the Carnival on Saturday.

25 Jun Neil Prince signs from Stalybridge. Neil previously made 1 sub appearance in the 1-0 defeat at Kettering in the 2002/03 season which qualifies him for entry into the one sub wonder club. He did however make a full appearance in the previous match, a 2-0 Lancs cup defeat at Accrington which doesn't count as a "first class" game.

24 Jun Southport Central record added to site, thanks to Football Club History Database.

I've been trying to update various bits of BSCN data today and it really is sad to see how poor a lot of the websites in this league are. The obvious exception is Iain Benson's superb Stalybridge site which has just about everything you could possibly need but most of the others are quite frankly, poor. I can never understand why people/clubs bother having a site if they can't be bothered updating it even with basic details.

23 Jun Despite all the uncertainty about who will actually start in BSCN on 11 August I have still received a great number of entries in the Prediction League and I know there are more pending from people waiting to see what happens, thanks to everyone for having a go.

22 Jun We are now members of Blue Square Conference North after another name change.

Chris Lane signs for Altrincham. Peter Thomson signs for Barrow (chuckle)

21 Jun TIY Meeting at The Grandstand Club 7.30pm start.

20 Jun Scarborough go into Liquidation and are no more. With Boston still under threat, Lancaster relegating themselves and others in trouble it makes you appreciate your own club just that bit more doesn't it. Something has to be done to get this situation sorted out though it is no advert for NL football when this keeps happening.

16 Jun Now looks like Boston are about to go into liquidation which will mean a reprieve for Worksop, should be decided tomorrow. This will of course mean another change to the Prediction League and all my spreadsheets, thank you very much! You really do have to feel for the Boston fans. I know how I felt when we were a few hours from going out of existence in the late seventies and it isn't nice.

15 Jun Still plenty of optimism in the Predictions League with Southport's placing ranging from 1st to 19th and fans from lots of clubs having a go which is good to see.

14 Jun Still trying to update all the prices for next season. Harrogate are charging £12 to stand. Kettering are £11 with £1 extra for Premier games against Boston, Hinckley, Nuneaton and Tamworth!!!

13 Jun Terry Smith signs permanently. I know of at least two Southport fans who will be pleased with that signature.

9 Jun Conference AGM sees Altrincham reprieved again with Boston placed in BSN which becomes our longest trip of the season at 179 miles. There seems to be some doubts (in Boston) as to whether or not Boston will even take their place in BSN. They sound like a club with big problems. It's not even a new ground for me having made the trip there back in the first non league season. I seem to recall the journey going on and on for some reason. Fixtures are due out by the end of June but no definite date set.

Those who have already entered the PREDICTION LEAGUE may want to change their entry.

I wish the new season would come along soon. Spending Saturday's painting your garage is not what Saturday's are for!

6 Jun Some great pledges being received, thank you. They include £1 for every headed goal, £1 for every pen scored, £50 if the floodlights fail (I'm sure that could be sorted out) £50 for every goal our goal keeper scores and £1 for every goal scored. Please keep them coming.

4 Jun Season Ticket sales start today. Julia will be there at 10am on the dot to make sure of ours! She managed to get numbers 1 and 2, needless to say she is number 1!

I'm sure things will start to get interesting this week as Dav is back from his hols and players on contracts to 31 May are freed up. I'm sure Carl will be on his way soon as well and hopefully we will get a good price for him. Where will he end up?

Back to work today. Not been in since the "Champions" League Final so can't wait to listen to whose fault it was for the thousands of Liverpool fans travelling without tickets, storming the barriers, making and selling forged tickets, fighting each other for tickets etc etc. I am sure it will be the Police, UEFA or Chelsea fans to blame again!

3 Jun Trust In Yellow are inviting Pledges to be made on events for the 2007/08 season. You can pledge on whatever you like, examples so far received are £100 for every goal Chris Holland scores, £1 for every goal home and away in League games, £100 if we win BSN. They can be as original or simple as you like, all you have to do is honour the Pledge. You can send the form to me on line from here or via trustinyellow.com Pledge forms will also be available at all our pre-season friendlies. The amount can be anything from 10p to £10,000 the choice is yours.

Thanks to everyone who has already had a go at the Prediction League. Great to see so much optimism around.

2 Jun SFCSTATS PREDICTION LEAGUE launched. A free to enter competition in which you predict the finishing positions of all the teams in The Blue Square North. For example if you think Southport will finish 1st and they do you will score 22 points. If you think we will finish 1st and we finish 22nd you will score just 1 point, if we finish 3rd, you score 20 points and so on for each team in the league. A Trophy will be awarded to the winner. The closing date is 3pm on 18 August. It may be worth waiting until the final composition of the league is known but you can always adjust your positions if there are any structural changes. Don't forget to fill in all 22 places.

1 Jun Connall Murtagh has now signed for Wrexham after Southport agree to "tear up his contract" according to the Wrexham website.
