STANDING ORDER FOR GOALDEN LOTTERY

Away Fans Q&A

Name: Rob Urwin

Occupation: HR Manager with HM Revenue & Customs

How long have you been supporting your team? 34 years but I did live away from the town for 12 years so I missed a good number of games in that period. Today is my 809th Southport match!

Favourite player currently? Steve Daly, improved tenfold since he arrived and never stops battling.

Favourite player of all time? George Dewsnip

Expectations for the season: I am sure we are good enough to stay up. I predicted 15th at the start of the season and I will settle for that!

What are you looking forward to this year? Visiting 9 new grounds if the finances allow it and the local derbies against Morecambe over the Christmas period.

How’s the season going so far? It’s evident from our early games that we are in for a hard season. I have been very surprised at the difference between Conference North and Conference National. It appears that in the two seasons we have been away a lot of progress has been made.

Best ground visited with your team? Wembley in the FA Trophy final in 1998 but in the Non-League arena I thought Rushden & Diamonds Nene Park was superb even though on the day we went we lost 4-0.

Have you visited Stonebridge Road before? No, this is the 143rd ground I have visited and despite the VERY early start and being reliant on trains I was determined to get here.

How do you think your manager is doing? Liam is the best thing to happen to Southport in a very long time. He is well liked by the fans who are not always noted for being the most patient and I am sure that given time, and more backing from the people of Southport he could re-establish us as a decent Conference team.

What will be the final score today? 1-1-nothing like sitting on the fence!
