FAN PROFILE

NAME John Siddle

FIRST HOME GAME EVER SEEN: I think it was Macclesfield, a 4-4 draw in the cup, can’t remember whether it was the FA cup or the FA trophy.

FIRST AWAY GAME EVER SEEN: Hartlepool United in the first round of the FA cup in the 1992/93 season

BEST GAME EVER SEEN: A tie between promotion at Harrogate Town and the giant-killing away at Mansfield Town – both fantastic days.

WORST GAME EVER SEEN: Stevenage Away – Relegated with an inept performance. No fight shown.

BEST OCCASIONS: The euphoria of promotion, a day many young Sandgrounders thought they’d never see.

WORST OCCASIONS: Undoubtedly relegation. A total lack of fight shown by the team in the circumstances.

FAVOURITE EVER PLAYER: Brian Butler – A tough tackling midfielder who always gave his all.

FUNNIEST MOMENT WATCHING SFC: The catering!

BEST GOAL SEEN SCORED BY SOUTHPORT PLAYER: Lee Trundle versus Leigh, skipping past three players before curling the ball effortlessly into the top of the net.

BEST GROUND VISITED WATCHING SFC: Either Yeovil’s Huish Park or Rushden and Diamond’s Nene Park. Fantastic grounds for then, non-league clubs.
