FIRST AWAY GAME EVER SEEN : 2001/02 F.A Cup 4th Qualifying Round vs. Marine Drew 1-1. I remember it was a very sunny day and had a hard time seeing, not just because of the sun but because of the people blocking my view. I just got into a good position when we had a corner and I remember Chris Lane scoring by a header and then falling into the net by his team mates in the first 5 mins. BEST GAME EVER SEEN Winning 4-2 vs. Notts
County in the F.A Cup 1st round. Before the game I already couldn;t
believe it, that we’re playing a League 1 side and I remember seeing Barry
Davies walking into the commentry box on the popular side. After seeing that I
knew we were going to be on the BBC, whatever the result. The best bit of the
match was Pickford’s equalising goal WHAT A GOAL I couldn;t believe he chipped
over the keeper and as we scored I saw everyone around me in the Jack Carr Stand
falling forward, it was like a vertical mexican wave. Then after I recorded
Match of the Day, I think I watched about 10 times, the only bit where I could
see myself was on the reply of the final goal. MY FACE WAS A PICTURE. WORST GAME EVER SEEN 1st March 2003 Home vs. Doncaster Rovers Lost 4-0. I never felt so bored in all my life. No one had any good remarks said by the fans, not a good day in my life. BEST OCCASIONS Going to Wembley in the F.A Trophy Final. I coudln’t believe I was there at Wembley a stadium which has seen thousands of matches by billions of people, probably the most famous stadium in the world. Even though we lost I was still overcome by the occasion at being at the original Wembley WORST OCCASIONS Finding out that we got relegated from the Conference. I was in shock out of the teams that could’ve being relegated it was us that had to be. I was so sad that I couldn’t be bothered doing anything for the rest of the day, except thinking of the several matches that could’ve kept us up. I couldn’t believe that half way through the season we were 3rd, then afte our F.A Cup win against Notts County we only won twice out of 20 games. The only time we were in the relegation zone was on the last day, bad timing or what. FAVOURITE EVER PLAYER Kevin Leadbetter - When you see him on the ball, he’s always exciting, running about like a mad march hare on caffeine. He’s always attacking the defence not being afraid to go into any challenge. Always a prolific goalscorer. FUNNIEST MOMENT WATCHING SFC It was in the 2003/04 season away vs. Altrincham. My Dad’s mate that always come’s with us and a die hard Southport fan who also used to play for Marine and is a international standard Badminton umpire. As we were just about to walk into the ground a ball flew out on to the road. So we took it in and my Dad’s mate decied to show us his football skills by booting it onto the pitch. He had the whole pitch to aim at, but instaed he hit the ball too high and the ball hit the top of the roof and bounced on the ground and hit the roof again. Me and my Dad couldn’t stop laughing, you should’ve been there to have seen it. Then after his “kick” he decided to just throw it. BEST GOAL SEEN SCORED BY SOUTHPORT PLAYER
Dino Maarmira’s goal vs. Morecambe, at Morecambe. I t was an unbelieveable goal.
He was just outside the penalty box, as he was away from goal with a defender
behind him, Dino chested it up then volleyed it and went into the top left hand
corner. A BEAUTY!!!!
