27 Sept Away DARLINGTON 0 SOUTHPORT 3-I didn't attend, that's two wins I have missed this season, put your money on a win at Newport as I'm missing that one as well. By all accounts it was a great performance.

26 Sept Sad to hear the news that Dave Ratcliff has passed away today.

24 Sept Home BRAINTREE-Our first ever game against Braintree. SOUTHPORT 0 BRAINTREE 4 ATT 938 47 From Braintree.

20 Sept Home WREXHAM. If Moogs starts it will be his 100th league start. He did so it was but he didn't finish as he was sent off for two yellows. SOUTHPORT 0 WREXHAM 0. A battling point in front of the season's best gate so far, 1710 which included 664 travelling Wrexham fans. Doesn't quite make it into our TOP 20 ATTENDANCE CHART.

17 Sept Away FOREST GREEN ROVERS 2 SOUTHPORT 3 and up to tenth place in the league. Goals from Earl Davis, Simon Grand ( a goal worth £100 to Trust in Yellow c/o Steve Wignall's pledge) and a belter from Shaun Whalley. Scoreline flatters Forest Green who were not very good but we played very well to secure a comfortable three points.

10 Sept Away BATH CITY-This will be Liam's 250th game in charge.

BATH CITY 1 SOUTHPORT 2. I didn't attend  so no comments on the game but what a fantastic win. The commentators on Radio Bristol were raving about Poku. It was our first 3 wins on the bounce in the Conference since the end of the 2006/07 season when we had the run of 4 against Stafford, Burton Rushden and G&N. Tony Gray moves into joint 7th place in our NL Goalscorers list with an identical strike rate as Neil Robinson.

3 Sept Home SOUTHPORT 3 AFC TELFORD UNITED 2. ATT 1123 Away 221 Another nailbiter but a great game to watch capped off by a fantastic penalty save by Matt Nemes. A pen that was awarded after 3mins 34 seconds of 4 mins added time after which the ref immediately blew for full time. It was easy going for the first 20 mins with 3 goals coming in a 6 minute period. After that we were under the cosh for a while but thankfully held out. Choice between Shaun Whalley and Godfrey Poku for MOTM but awarded to Poku for his all round endeavour. Looks to be a great acquisition.

29 Aug Home BARROW our 1400th NL LEAGUE GAME. SOUTHPORT 2 BARROW 1. Our first ever Conference win against Barrow.

Michael Ordish became the 21st player used this season when he came on as sub. He took player number 623.

When Jon Brown scored on Saturday he became the 287th different player to find the goal for The Sandgrounders (plus 42 own goals)

28 Aug PREDICTION LEAGUE updated and we have a runaway leader at the moment....will it last?

Matt Nemes becomes our 46th goalkeeper in league games. Having previously recorded the Kidderminster game as being Liam's 250th league game in charge this is not actually the case. I have been checking some stats today and I have three games recorded as being Liam in charge when in fact we had a caretaker manager in place (Lee Ashcroft I think?) before he came to the club with his first game in charge being at home to Radcliffe Borough. Updated Managers Records are HERE.

27 Aug Away KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 2 SOUTHPORT 0 ATT 1763 AWAY 89.

26 Aug JPK signs for Luton and Dan Walker and Godfrey Poku come in on loan from Luton until the end of December. Very disappointed to see JPK go but it was inevitable that it was going to happen at some point. I had hoped we would keep him until January but alas not.

JP started 26 games and came on as sub in two. He scored 4 league goals. He also made 3 cup starts and scored 1 goal.

The goals-Cup-Home v Everton. League Home v Lincoln, Home v Darlington, Home v Cambridge and Home v Gateshead-some spectacular efforts in that little group.

24 Aug First table published for the 2011/12 PREDICTION LEAGUE. Link now on menu.

23 Aug Home  GATESHEAD- SOUTHPORT 1 GATESHEAD 3. Tony Gray with our goal.

20 Aug Away LUTON TOWN. We have never scored a goal at Luton. We have now but LUTON TOWN 5 SOUTHPORT 1.

16 Aug Away ALFRETON TOWN. ALFRETON TOWN 0 SOUTHPORT 0. A comfortable point. Gate of 777 contained 81 SFC fans although it was announced as 54. We had already counted 81 before the announcement came. By popular demand I will be giving a Man Of The Match award at the games I go to on my FIXTURES AND RESULTS page again this season which will be my opinion alone. It was a close run thing between Russell Benjamin and Simon Grand in this game. Considering it was Russ's first game he was excellent but Simon just pips it for what I felt was the complete defensive performance, excellent in the air, great distribution and superb tackling.

13 Aug NEW SEASON STARTS HOME v LINCOLN CITY SOUTHPORT 2 LINCOLN CITY 2. An early Goal Of The Season contender from JPK and a goal from Shaun Whalley give us a share of the points in a highly entertaining game. Shaun's goal was our 1100th NL home league goal.

I will be updating all the entries into the Prediction League over the next few days.

7 Aug Friendly v Accrington Stanley-CANCELLED.

130 YEARS OF SOUTHPORT FC pdf file is now HERE. It is a 78 page pdf and may take a minute to download depending on your internet connection. If you do download it and care to make a donation to Trust In Yellow it would be appreciated.

6 Aug The full list of squad numbers is now shown on my APPEARANCES & SCORERS page.

4 Aug Friendly Away at Cammell Laird Won 2-1

2 Aug Friendly AWAY at Skelmersdale United Lost 1-0

31 July Liam Watson X1 won the cricket match by 52 runs  Liam top scoring with 59. Full details and pictures from an action and incident packed afternoon will be appearing in a forthcoming edition of the Matchday Programme.

30 July Friendly HOME v Morecambe. SOUTHPORT 2 MORECAMBE 3 ATT 405 Both goals scored by Tony Gray.

26 July Friendly AWAY Chester. CHESTER 0 SOUTHPORT 3 Walwyn, Daly & McCormack with the goals. Att 975.

23 July 2010/11 Liverpool Senior Cup Final Home v Everton. SOUTHPORT 2 EVERTON 0. Goals from Karl Ledsham and John-Paul Kissock.

I have decided to count the LSC FINAL as a 2011/12 game in my records, mainly because the players playing are from this season's squad and some never played in 2010/11. I guess in theory Steve Akrigg could be cup-tied if he played for Skem in the 2010/11 competition.

Our Record in Liverpool Senior Cup Finals:

85/86 05-May A South Liverpool L 1-2 330 Sturgeon
87/88 06-May H Marine L 2-4 449 og(King) Eyres
